Social Worker’s Guide to Productive and Compassionate Scheduling


Below are the examples of scheduling of a social worker with regard to the responsibilities for client support, paperwork, personal, and professional development hours. You can set different specific levels according to duties, and these specific levels can also be changed according to your tastes.


Social Worker’s Weekly Timetable

Monday

  • 08:00 AM - 9:00 AM: Review emails and messages, respond to urgent requests.

  • 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM: Client attendance (one to one sessions,inctenal

  • 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Writing case documents or reports.

  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch break (self-care).

  • 01:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Home visit and outreach services.

  • 03:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Team meeting / collaboration with friends.

  • 04:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Personal or Professional Development Module / Personal and                                                           Professional Survival Strategies.



Tuesday

  • 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM: Administrative tasks (adjust files, plan meetings).

  • 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Client sessions (therapy, assessment).

  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch break.

  • 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM: Crisis intervention and Emergency service

  • 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM: Organizations and support services in communities.

  • 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Supervision reflection (conversation with supervisor, case).


Wednesday

  • 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM: Reference to open files and prospects for new clients.

  • 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM: Client appointments.

  • 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Preparation of reports, documents and records.

  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch break.

  • 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM: School meetings or instruction in new social work techniques.

  • 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Community relations, partnerships, support, information and                                                            referral services.



Thursday

  • 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM: These include entrance clerical duties or business works,                                                                  identification of timetable, email correspondence among                                                                others.

  • 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM: Client home visits.

  • 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM:  Case status and outcomes updates (calls to clients, agency).

  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch break.

  • 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM: Support family groups experiencing difficulties.

  • 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM: Legal or policy review (stay updated with social work 


(regulations)

  • 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Self-care (exercise, relaxation).

Friday

  • 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM: Catch-up on emails, urgent cases.

  • 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Client meetings and closing of the week’s working sessions.

  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch break.

  • 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM: Every Friday – Staff meeting / Feedback and case review.

  • 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Reading, online courses, training and development of self                                                                   professional development.

  • 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Administrative wrap-up (week's documentation, case notes).



Additional Notes:

  • Self-care: Self care means that you have to write breaks down in minutes as any other                    activity that refreshes you.

  • Supervision & Mentoring: The reflective procedure of supervision must be exercised                      on a regular basis in order to provide growth and directions.

  • Flexibility: Flexible as possible provided certain conditions such as emergencies or                         urgent need from clients might warrant diversions.
